Poker is everywhere. It’s on TV. It’s in card rooms everywhere. It’s in casinos. It’s even gotten on gaming consoles where it emulates the World Series of Poker. And, most popularly, it’s online. These games are legion, and so are the sites on which they appear. There are hundreds of casinos online. The path lies through free Sit-N-Go tournaments. These tournaments range from high stakes extravaganzas to low stakes, more ‘for fun’ competitions between players of all skill levels. The Sit-N-Go is just like a real-life tournament though chips are used in place of real life money (all this is done in online games, remember). You won’t lose your bankroll at a Sit-N-Go table; the only thing you risk is your buy-in if you lose quickly and are booted from the games (each player is given the same amount of chips at the beginning, after all). They play like any other games: players play until their table empties of opponents, and then what’s left is siphoned off into remaining tables, and so on and so forth until only one player is left standing with all the chips in his or her hands. Winners of these tournaments can win a decent amount of money, as first place gets 50 percent of the total pot.
More, though, if they win enough of these tournaments – especially high-tier poker tournaments with lots of excellent players – they can earn a ticket to the World Series. These Sit-N-Go’s act as satellite tournaments more often than not, after all, and if you do well enough you can earn a free spot in the World Series (in other words you won’t have to pay the $10,000 buy-in).
