Texas Holdem Poker Online

Playing Texas HoldEm poker online can greatly simplify your game. The entire process online is, after all, automated: the program you’re playing HoldEm on will invariably deal the poker cards the way it’s supposed to, appoint the correct dealer, appoint which player should show their Texas cards first and at what time, and so on. It’s much easier doing things online than it ever would be offline.

But what if you’re not playing Texas HoldEm poker online? Despite the influx of players to the Internet, this still happens on occasion. Friends get together and sit down for a good game of poker, whether it’s Texas or HoldEm or Omaha or whatever. And there are still live casinos around – lots of them – that play live games.

But before you sit down for that game of HoldEm you should know that there is a certain etiquette to playing poker, particularly the Texas version, and that usually comes into play when deciding who shows their hand first. Not knowing these rules can cause some serious arguments at the poker table.

First, when there is a bet followed by a call once the river card (the last card) is played, the person who bet must flash their cards first. Then order then moves clockwise around the table. Each player must decide to throw in their cards or “muck” them (throw them away face down) in turn. Not terribly difficult to remember, and not likely to cause arguments: but the next bit might.

Players always have the option of asking to see their opponent’s mucked cards. It’s perfectly legal. However, it’s also a serious breach of good etiquette, and may cause embarrassment for the losing player. Therefore you need to weigh the pro of gaining information from the other player’s cards against destroying the mood of a good card game.

Or you could just play Texas HoldEm poker online and avoid the whole sticky mess. Online cards are much simpler that way, and you can avoid causing potentially irreparable fights between friends and foes alike by just letting the program handle things.
